social behavior within groups through references prior to full acceptance.
How challenging are the courses?
If you are of average physical shape with a positive attitude you
can successfully participate at Mullins Camp. All programs have
a built in progression appropriate to the average person in this
age group.
How
do you ensure course safety?
Safety is our first priority on every Mullins Camp program. Knowledgeable
and experienced counselors supervise all activities. To provide
the best instruction available, we employ rock climbing, rafting,
glacier travel and kayaking specialists. During special activity
sections, guides work with our counselors and campers providing
expert knowledge and increased supervision.
Who
is a typical participant?
Campers who have completed fourth, fifth, and sixth grades come
to Mullins Camp. We strive to include campers from diverse backgrounds
and fill programs equally with male and female participants. A female
and a male instructor lead all programs.
What
is the ratio of campers to instructors?
Our camper to staff ratio averages 4:1. On special activity sections
it may be as many as 2:1. The maximum group size is 10 campers in
each tent group.
How
much time do you spend driving?
Our Wyoming base camp is just ten minutes from the Jackson Hole
Airport! We provide transportation for campers to and from St. Louis,
Chicago and our Ozark camp.
What
does a camper get out of camp?
LOTS! Including: leadership and teamwork experience, increased self-confidence,
and substantial wilderness skills. Campers take home a greater appreciation
of themselves, others, the wilderness and memories to last a lifetime!
As one camper said "I came to learn to rock climb, and I did
that, but I went home with so much more...new friends, new ways
of living, and a new outlook on life."
