Answer
the call to leadership
and the call of the wild!
Hone
your skills as a wilderness instructor. The challenges of the 30-day
Instructor Course are specifically designed to develop outdoor leaders.
This
fast-paced program focuses on hands-on learning. The curriculum
develops the skills for a well-rounded outdoor leader and instructor.
We begin with the fundamentals for a successful expedition: trip
planning, logistics and outfitting. While backpacking, we expand
upon leadership and decision-making with a strong emphasis on safety,
group dynamics and creating outstanding programs. We cover snow
travel, hazard evaluation, rescue procedures, teaching techniques
and much more.
Our
in-depth curriculum is taught by experienced wilderness professionals.
Students develop their personal leadership style and gain confidence
in a supportive atmosphere. We welcome committed graduates of previous
Trails courses and highly motivated applicants with prior outdoor
experience. Please include a complete list of your outdoor experience
with your application. Outstanding graduates of this course may
be considered for future employment with Trails.
